Security Supervisor Joseph Peter Zangaro, aged 61, tragically lost his life on July 11, 2016, in Saint Joseph, Michigan. Zangaro was a dedicated officer serving at the Berrien County Trial Court. On that fateful day, an inmate being escorted from his holding cell by a jail deputy began to struggle with the deputy. During the altercation, the inmate managed to disarm the deputy and opened fire, fatally shooting Zangaro and Court Officer Ronald Kienzle.
