In a horrifying act of domestic violence that shook the community of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, 19-year-old Chadney Allen, a male, was tragically killed in September 2016. His life was cut short by his stepfather, Gregory Green, in a brutal event that also claimed the lives of his 17-year-old sister, Kara Allen, and his two younger half-sisters, 5-year-old Koi Green and 4-year-old Kaleigh Green.
The tragedy unfolded in the family's home, where Gregory Green first targeted his wife,
Faith Green, the mother of all four children. He bound her with duct tape and zip ties, slashed her face with a box cutter, and shot her in the foot. In a truly monstrous act, he then forced her to watch as he shot and killed Chadney and Kara in the basement of their home. The teenagers were found with multiple gunshot wounds, having been shot execution-style.
Following the murders of his stepchildren, Gregory Green turned his attention to his biological daughters. He poisoned Koi and Kaleigh with carbon monoxide fumes from a car in the garage. After the girls succumbed, he moved their bodies back into the house, placing them in their beds. In the early morning hours, Green himself called 911, confessed to the murders, and waited on the porch of the home to be arrested by the responding officers.
The investigation revealed that the horrific events were precipitated by marital strife; Faith Green had recently filed for divorce. The community was further shocked to learn that this was not Gregory Green's first act of deadly domestic violence. He had previously served 16 years in prison for the 1991 murder of his first wife, who was pregnant at the time. Despite this history, he had been granted parole in 2008.
Gregory Green was initially charged with four counts of first-degree murder, as well as torture and assault for the attack on his wife. After being found competent to stand trial, he pleaded guilty to four counts of second-degree murder, along with charges of torture and assault. In March 2017, he was sentenced to a prison term of 45 to 100 years, ensuring that he will likely never be a free man again. The case left a lasting scar on the community and highlighted the devastating consequences of domestic violence.
