On the evening of September 8, 2017, Willie Jean Dawson, a 41-year-old male, was fatally shot as he was leaving Dom's Food Market on Saginaw's West Side. His death was the culmination of a dispute with another man, Troy Lee-Jabbar McClain Jr., reportedly stemming from an alleged affair Dawson had with McClain's wife.
