In the summer of 2021, a family tragedy unfolded in Saginaw, Michigan, culminating in the death of 49-year-old Andre L. Lindsey Sr. The Black male resident passed away on July 15, 2021, two weeks after being shot.
The incident that led to Lindsey Sr.'s death occurred on July 1, 2021. Following the shooting, his son, Andre Lemond Lindsey Jr., was identified as the suspect and subsequently arrested. The familial nature of the alleged crime sent ripples of shock through their community.
Andre Lindsey Jr. was charged with his father's murder. He stood trial for the fatal shooting, and on May 30, 2023, a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder. In addition to the murder conviction, Lindsey Jr. was also found guilty of weapons-related offenses, including being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and felony firearm.
For the second-degree murder charge, Andre Lindsey Jr. was sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 50 to 75 years. He also received concurrent sentences of 6 to 15 years for the felon in possession charges and a consecutive two-year sentence for the felony firearm conviction.
