On September 24, 2009, 28-year-old Jose L. Vargas was tragically killed in Chicago, Illinois. The circumstances surrounding his death unfolded during a violent incident in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. Several witnesses identified the shooter as Gilberto Luis Vargas, who had been known to police prior to the event.
