On June 28, 2020, in Mackinaw City, Michigan, authorities responded to a distressing scene at a hotel on South Huron Avenue. A man had called 911 around 12:20 p.m., reporting that his girlfriend had taken her own life. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of a 39-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son, both from the Grand Rapids area.
