Jordan Rashawan Ginns, a 24-year-old male, was discovered around 2:20 a.m. in the driveway of a residence in the 700 block of Turner Avenue NW. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His death marked the 20th homicide in the city that year, a statistic that troubled both law enforcement and the community.
The Grand Rapids Police
Department immediately launched an investigation into the shooting. Authorities believe that the killing was not a random act of violence and that there may have been individuals involved in the planning of the murder and the subsequent escape of the person or persons who carried out the shooting.
