In the early hours of Friday, May 21, 2021, the life of 19-year-old Delano Smith was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire that also claimed the life of 21-year-old Erion Parker. Smith, a Black male from Flint, Michigan, was among a crowd of people at a large party on the city's north side when the violence erupted.
The gathering, which had drawn a considerable number of attendees, was shattered by a drive-by shooting.
Multiple shots were fired from a passing vehicle, sowing chaos and panic. In the aftermath, Smith and Parker were found with fatal gunshot wounds. Emergency services were called to the scene, and both men were pronounced dead. The incident stunned the local community and added to the city's grim tally of gun violence victims.
