Patricia Audrey 'Tricia' Skoczylas, a 32-year-old female, was tragically killed on May 28, 2021, in a shocking murder-suicide event in Warren, Michigan. Known for her kind and compassionate nature, Tricia's life was cut short by her boyfriend, Nick Prentiss. The grim discovery was made after firefighters responded to a house fire on Fairfield Street that morning.
Once the flames were extinguished, authorities found the bodies of Tricia and Prentiss inside the home.
The subsequent investigation revealed a harrowing sequence of events. It was determined that Prentiss had shot Tricia before setting multiple fires within the house. After starting the fires, he then turned the gun on himself, ending his own life. The couple's Great Dane was found unharmed in the backyard of the residence.
In the wake of the tragedy, Tricia's sister, Diane Skoczylas, shed light on the circumstances leading up to the murder-suicide. She revealed that in the months prior to the incident, Prentiss had become increasingly paranoid, believing that people were out to harm both him and Tricia. Despite his escalating mental distress, Tricia had remained by his side, attempting to support him through his struggles. The investigation conducted by the Warren Police Department, which included interviews with family, friends, and neighbors, confirmed the case as a murder-suicide, and no further arrests were made.
