In the late spring of 2022, a shooting in Flint, Michigan, claimed the life of 30-year-old Kivon Louis Sykes. Born on November 20, 1991, in Flint, Sykes was a Black or African American male who was a lifelong resident of the city. He attended Flint Community Schools and later graduated from Flint Beecher High School. Known as a family man, he was a father to three sons. Sykes was an entrepreneur, owning his own business, Sykes Lawncare Elite, and also worked as a cook at Hungry Howie's Pizza.
His interests included old school cars, which he enjoyed with his sons, as well as stock trading and cryptocurrency.
The incident that led to his death occurred on May 29, 2022, in the 400 block of South Saginaw Street in Flint. Following the shooting, Sykes was transported to Hurley Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries a week later on June 5, 2022.
As of now, the investigation into the murder of Kivon Louis Sykes remains ongoing. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case, and no arrests have been announced. Law enforcement officials and Crime Stoppers of Flint & Genesee County have appealed to the public for any information that could help lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for his death. The community has been urged to come forward with any details that might assist investigators in bringing a resolution to the case and providing justice for Sykes and his family.
