Patricia Fowler was a 21-year-old woman from Ypsilanti, Michigan, whose life was violently cut short on November 30, 2022. That day, she was killed by gunfire in Ypsilanti. Her body was later discovered inside the trunk of a car that had been set on fire in Detroit, prompting a homicide investigation by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation soon led to Patricia’s 23-year-old fiancé, Asante Lee Wright.
He was arrested and subsequently faced charges of open murder and carrying a firearm in connection with her death.
During Wright's trial, testimony revealed a chilling detail: he had entered into a new romantic relationship on the very day that Patricia was killed. In March 2024, a jury found Asante Wright guilty of second-degree murder.
Two months later, in May 2024, Wright was sentenced to serve between 37 and 60 years in prison. He declined to make a statement at his sentencing hearing. While Wright was brought to justice, the case was not fully closed. Authorities also identified a second suspect, 28-year-old Bashid Bristol-Davis of Belleville.
Bristol-Davis has a prior criminal history that includes charges for breaking and entering and larceny of a firearm related to a string of gun store break-ins, for which he served nearly 20 months in prison. Authorities consider him to be armed and dangerous. As of May 2023, Bristol-Davis remained at large. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest.
