Deputy Sheriff William Lonnie Wadford, Jr., aged 40, tragically lost his life on March 8, 1979, in Madison, Mississippi. On that fateful night, Deputy Wadford stopped at Club 16, located about two and a half miles east of Canton, Mississippi, to ensure the club was observing closing hour laws.
