Deputy Sheriff John R. Klem, III, aged 44, tragically lost his life on September 15, 1985, in Rawls Springs, Mississippi. On that fateful night, Deputy Klem responded to a call at the Big K Truck Stop on U.S. 49 North, where two female clerks reported a man causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputy Klem recognized the suspect from a previous incident the night before.
