Chief of Police Joe M. Thomason, Sr., aged 43, tragically lost his life on May 8, 1993, in Potts Camp, Mississippi. Chief Thomason was fatally shot while conducting a traffic stop on a drunk and reckless driver on US Highway 78, approximately two miles from Potts Camp. The incident occurred at around 3:30 PM.
