In the quiet community of Helena, Mississippi, the life of 85-year-old Charles Ike Mason, Jr., a local junkyard owner, was brought to a violent end on March 2, 2011. A customer visiting his property on Hog Island discovered Mr. Mason shot to death inside his home, a place where he had built a life and a business. The initial shock of the discovery soon gave way to a determined investigation into the circumstances surrounding his murder.
The investigation uncovered a story of a personal
relationship turned deadly. Authorities identified three individuals in connection with the crime. Jeffery 'Juice' Allen and Donna Marie Freeman were indicted on charges of capital murder, while a third person, Joshua Keith Davis, faced charges of being an accessory after the fact.
