Tavares Lavon Williams, a 43-year-old Black male, was killed on the afternoon of September 20, 2021, in Okolona, Mississippi. The incident began with an altercation at the Okolona Terrace Apartments, which escalated to a fatal shooting. An investigation into the events of that day determined that the shooting was a targeted attack and not a random act of violence. After being shot, Williams attempted to drive away from the scene but crashed his vehicle into a tree on Fleming Street. He was found ...
