In the late hours of a Thursday night in Okolona, Mississippi, a domestic disturbance call to 911 marked the beginning of a tragic end for Homer Rufus Porter Jr. The 33-year-old Black man was at his Corona Street home on March 31, 2022, when violence erupted. Not long after the initial call, his wife, 39-year-old Christine Porter, appeared at the police station to report a shooting.
When officers arrived at the couple's residence, they discovered Homer Porter's body; he had been shot multiple times.

The Okolona Police Department, led by Assistant Chief Sherrie Hardin, arrested Christine Porter in connection with her husband's death. She was subsequently charged with first-degree murder.
