In the late summer of 2014, the community of Port Gibson, Mississippi, was shaken by the tragic loss of 28-year-old Melvina Hedrick, a Black/African American woman whose life was cut short in a brutal double homicide. On August 27, 2014, she and another woman, Kawanna Williams, were discovered deceased under separate bridges in Claiborne County. The grim findings launched an intensive investigation into their untimely deaths.
