In December of 2019, the life of 21-year-old Quawanda Hicks was tragically cut short in Port Gibson, Mississippi. Her mother reported her missing on December 23rd, initiating a search that would end in heartbreak just days later. On December 26th, her body was discovered, revealing she had been shot multiple times.
The investigation quickly focused on her 31-year-old boyfriend, Darion Hill, with whom she had a history of domestic disputes. The couple was last seen together on December 19th. As authorities began their search for Hill, they warned the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous. Warrants were issued for his arrest on charges of kidnapping and murder. At the time he was being sought in connection with Hicks' death, Hill was also scheduled to stand trial in January for a separate shooting incident.
The manhunt for Darion Hill extended beyond Mississippi, culminating in his capture in Dallas County, Texas, on January 14, 2020. He was booked into the Dallas County Jail and faced extradition to Mississippi to be formally charged with the kidnapping and murder of Quawanda Hicks.
