In the winter of 2014, just two days before Christmas, a tragedy unfolded in the parking lot of a Walmart in Clarksdale, Mississippi, that would cut short the life of a young man. Brandon Smith, a 26-year-old Black male, found himself in the midst of a heated argument between several individuals on December 23rd. In an attempt to de-escalate the situation and act as a peacemaker, Smith intervened.
