In the summer of 2015, a domestic dispute in a home on Albert Lane, about five miles west of Hazlehurst, ended in the tragic death of Perry Martize Jones, a 29-year-old man from Wesson, Mississippi. On the evening of July 26, 2015, Jones was transported to Hardy Wilson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound to his head.
