In the summer of 2015, a domestic dispute in a home on Albert Lane, about five miles west of Hazlehurst, ended in the tragic death of Perry Martize Jones, a 29-year-old man from Wesson, Mississippi. On the evening of July 26, 2015, Jones was transported to Hardy Wilson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound to his head.
The investigation into the shooting quickly focused on his girlfriend, Felicia Killingsworth. According to the Copiah County Sheriff, Killingsworth admitted to shooting Jones during an altercation. Based on her admission, she was taken into custody and subsequently charged with murder. Following her arrest, authorities prepared for a bond hearing as the investigation into the specific details of the domestic dispute continued.
