Jason McLemore, a 43-year-old male and a respected local business owner, was at his gun shop on January 23, 2016, when the events that led to his death unfolded. The day took a dark turn when a father and son duo, Audy and Michael McCool, visited the establishment to pick up a firearm that had been brought in for repairs.
An argument ignited over the $25 fee for the work performed on the gun. The disagreement quickly spiraled out of control, culminating in a violent shootout. In the exchange of gunfire, both Jason and his 17-year-old son, Jacob, were fatally wounded. Jason was discovered deceased in the front doorway of his shop, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
