On May 20, 2016, a Black / African American male identified as Edward Devon Evans, aged 38, was discovered deceased in Jackson, Mississippi. The grim discovery was made by a passerby who spotted the victim's body lying in the yard of a residence near Battlefield Park. Jackson Police Department officers arrived at the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death, which was determined to be the result of a shooting.
