In the late hours of November 22, 2016, in Jackson, Mississippi, a sequence of violent events led to the death of 21-year-old Tyshun Robinson. First responders were initially called to the scene at Belvedere and Winn Street for what was reported as a car accident. Upon their arrival, they were met with a grim and complex scene. A blue Cadillac had crashed into a tree and was partially engulfed in flames.
Near the burning vehicle, authorities discovered the body of Tyshun Robinson.
An initial examination revealed that he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene, turning a supposed car accident investigation into a homicide case. For years, the case grew cold, leaving family and investigators searching for answers and a path to justice.
A significant breakthrough in the investigation came nearly nine years later. In 2024, the Jackson Police Department formed a Cold Case Unit, which took on the task of re-examining the evidence and pursuing new leads in the Robinson homicide. Their persistent efforts eventually bore fruit. In April 2025, authorities announced the arrest of 48-year-old Calvin Horton in connection with Tyshun Robinson's death. Horton has since been charged with murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was subsequently booked into the Hinds County Detention Center and is being held without bond as the investigation continues to be active.
