In the early morning hours of January 15, 2017, a violent altercation at the Sin City nightclub on Church Road in Pike County, Mississippi, claimed the life of 45-year-old Prentiss Jackson, a male resident of nearby Magnolia. The incident, which unfolded around 2 a.m. on a Sunday, resulted in a shooting that left four other individuals wounded and Jackson fatally injured by multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation that followed the deadly nightclub shooting led authorities to two
suspects. Derric Hall, also a resident of Magnolia, was apprehended and faced serious charges, including one count of murder and four counts of attempted murder. During the course of the investigation, Hall reportedly admitted to discharging his firearm during the altercation at the nightclub. He claimed that an argument had escalated into a physical fight where he was assaulted by several people. According to Hall's account, he retrieved a gun from his vehicle and began shooting after being pursued by a group of individuals, only stopping when he saw people falling to the ground.
A second suspect, Laxavier Addison, was also taken into custody in connection with the incident. Addison was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Following their arrests, both Derric Hall and Laxavier Addison were held at the Pike County Jail, each with a bond set at $700,000. The local community closely followed the legal proceedings as the case moved forward, seeking justice for Prentiss Jackson and the other victims of the shooting.
