In the spring of 2017, the life of a promising young athlete was tragically cut short in Jackson, Mississippi. Renderrick O'Quinn, a 20-year-old Black male, was a dedicated boxer with a bright future, known for his energetic personality and radiant smile. He was a member of the Pearl Boxing Club and had recently joined the Legend Boxing Club in Tampa, Florida, with a professional match scheduled in Las Vegas for June of that year.
On the evening of May 6, 2017, O'Quinn was at the
Commonwealth Apartments in Jackson, engaged in a dice game. The friendly gathering took a violent turn when an attempted robbery escalated into a triple shooting. In the ensuing chaos, Renderrick O'Quinn was struck by multiple gunshots. He succumbed to his injuries, and his untimely death was ruled a homicide by the Jackson Police Department.
Investigators determined that the motive for the shooting was an attempted robbery during the dice game. The Jackson Police Department announced that they had identified a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting and were also seeking another individual who may have been involved in the robbery and the shooting.
