In the spring of 2017, the life of Terry Lavin Singleton, a 45-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in Gulfport, Mississippi. On the evening of May 13th, he and another man, Fredrick Robinson, were discovered deceased from gunshot wounds at the Reserve Apartments. The violent nature of their deaths immediately launched a significant investigation by local law enforcement.
The subsequent inquiry into the double homicide pointed to a drug deal gone wrong.
Authorities identified Torre Mandrell Clark as the primary suspect in the fatal shootings of Singleton and Robinson. Based on the evidence gathered during their investigation, prosecutors moved forward with legal action against Clark, charging him with two counts of first-degree murder.
The case proceeded through the legal system, culminating in a trial where the evidence against Torre Mandrell Clark was presented. However, in 2019, a decision was reached that led to his acquittal on all charges related to the double homicide. Following the verdict, Clark was released from custody. The outcome of the trial brought a close to the legal proceedings, leaving the deaths of Terry Singleton and Fredrick Robinson without a conviction.
