In the late hours of a spring night in Meridian, Mississippi, a promising and passionate young man named Mariner Durant, 23, was found dead. On Monday, June 5, 2017, the former mayoral candidate was discovered in a wooded area behind his home with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The day before the city's mayoral election, a life full of political ambition and community involvement was cut short.
