In the late afternoon of August 12, 2017, a dispute on Beasley Road in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, tragically escalated, leading to the death of 37-year-old Jason Youngblood, a Black/African American male. Youngblood was discovered deceased in the middle of the street, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound.
The incident began over a disagreement concerning a pressure washer or a garbage bin. Youngblood, accompanied by a passenger, had driven to the residence of Oliver Brown Jr.
Believing a garbage bin at the home belonged to him, Youngblood approached the house and spoke with Brown's wife. An argument ensued, and Brown was called to the scene. When Brown arrived, the confrontation intensified.
Following the altercation, Youngblood was shot once in the face at close range. The bullet wound proved to be fatal.
