In the spring of 2018, the life of 31-year-old Lorenzo Kim Biggs was tragically cut short in Pascagoula, Mississippi. On the evening of May 4th, Biggs was shot in the chest and leg at a residence on Dupont Avenue. He was rushed to Singing River Hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. A Black male, Biggs was a father and a beloved member of his community, remembered by friends and family for his fun-loving and honest nature.
The investigation into the fatal shooting quickly
led to two arrests. Rouvell Jerome 'Rudy' Thigpen, 28 years old at the time, turned himself in to the Pascagoula Police Department and was subsequently charged with murder. Authorities identified Thigpen as the boyfriend of Biggs's estranged wife. Shortly after, police arrested 28-year-old Octavia Williams-Biggs on a charge of accessory after the fact, though the specifics of her alleged involvement were not publicly detailed.
As the legal process unfolded, a Jackson County grand jury in November 2018 chose not to indict Octavia Williams-Biggs, leading to the dismissal of the charge against her. Rouvell Thigpen, however, remained in custody to face the murder charge for his alleged role in the death of Lorenzo Biggs.
