In the spring of 2018, the life of 20-year-old Deonta McGee was cut short by an act of gun violence in Jackson, Mississippi. On the evening of Friday, May 11, 2018, McGee was fatally shot, becoming another victim in the city's ongoing struggle with violent crime.
