In the late hours of a summer night in Leland, Mississippi, the life of 27-year-old Qunterrieus Robertson was tragically cut short. On August 11, 2018, the Black male became the victim of a fatal shooting that transpired on the 400 block of North Main Street. The incident, which unfolded after Robertson and a close friend had departed a local club, was captured by the unblinking eye of a nearby store's surveillance camera.

The man responsible for Robertson's death was identified as Drew McClure. In the aftermath of the shooting, the Leland Police Department, with assistance from the Cleveland Police Department, moved swiftly to apprehend McClure. He was subsequently arrested and faced the grave charge of murder. The investigation carried out by the Leland Police Department was described as thorough and professional, involving the collection of crucial evidence and interviews with witnesses. This diligent police work was instrumental in building a strong case against McClure.

The legal proceedings that followed culminated on November 4, 2022, in the Washington County Circuit Court. On that day, Drew McClure pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree murder. His admission of guilt brought a formal close to the case that had lingered for over four years. The court sentenced McClure to 30 years in prison for the death of his friend. The terms of his sentence stipulate that he must serve 20 of those years without the possibility of early release or parole, ensuring a lengthy period of incarceration for the act that ended a young man's life.
