In Nesbit, Mississippi, the life of 43-year-old Gregory Lee Johnson, a male, came to a tragic end on April 17, 2019. He was found deceased in his home on Highway 51 from a single gunshot wound. The circumstances surrounding his death unfolded as his wife, Jamie Lynn Johnson, then 34, turned herself in to the Hernando Police Department later that same day.
Accompanied by her pastor and her mother, she confessed to the murder of her husband.
Following her confession, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the couple's residence where they discovered Mr. Johnson's body. Jamie Lynn Johnson was subsequently arrested and booked into the DeSoto County Jail, charged with murder. A judge set her bail at $250,000.
Further investigation into the couple's background revealed a history of domestic issues. Reports indicated that there had been previous instances of domestic violence. Just two months prior to the fatal shooting, the couple's three children had been removed from their custody by the state due to neglect charges. It was reported that the children had been locked in the house with zip ties used to secure the exterior doors. In light of the murder charge, Jamie Lynn Johnson's bail on the prior child neglect charges was revoked.
