In the spring of 2019, the life of 24-year-old Atavius Horton was cut short in a violent encounter in Lexington, Mississippi. A Black male, Horton was shot and killed on the morning of May 17, 2019, in the front yard of a home. The events leading to his death began with a dispute the previous night concerning another woman.
