In a heartbreaking incident in Jackson, Mississippi, 11-year-old Asia Maria Turner lost her life on June 23, 2019. The young girl, a student at North Jackson Elementary, was described as having a happy spirit and being full of life.
The tragedy occurred when Asia sustained an accidental gunshot wound to the face. Reports indicate that she had found a firearm, which then discharged. Emergency services responded, but tragically, Asia succumbed to her injuries.
In the wake of her death, family and friends gathered for a balloon release to honor her memory. Her funeral services were held on June 29, 2019, at the New Canney Creek M.B. Church in Jackson, followed by her burial at Autumn Woods Cemetery. The community mourned the sudden and tragic loss of a young life. As the death was ruled accidental, there have been no reports of arrests or suspects in connection with the incident.
