In the late afternoon of August 22, 2019, a dispute in a home on Shady Lane Drive in Jackson, Mississippi, turned fatal, claiming the life of 22-year-old Illyannaii Jahnette Dawson. A Black/African American female, Dawson was shot in the upper body during the altercation and was pronounced dead at the scene around 3:30 p.m. The Hinds County Coroner later confirmed that the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the neck.
