John Anthony "Jay" Tarvin, a 44-year-old youth sports coach from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was found dead in his home on January 3, 2020. The Hattiesburg Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near the 100 block of Presley Drive around 11 p.m. and discovered Tarvin's body inside the residence. The Forrest County Deputy Coroner, Lisa Klem, confirmed that Tarvin had been shot, and his body was sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
