In the late hours of a February night in 2020, a 37-year-old man named Willie Lloyd Phillips was walking in his community in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, something he often did as he did not own a car. It would be the last walk he would ever take. On the morning of Tuesday, February 25, 2020, his body was discovered on the side of Valley Road, south of Arundel Road.
