In the late hours of a spring night in Jackson, Mississippi, a family was forever altered by an act of violence. Seventeen-year-old Ja'Brandon Lewis, a Black male, was running an errand for his mother just after midnight on May 27, 2020, when his life was cut short. In the 800 block of West Northside Drive, he was struck by multiple gunshots. When the Jackson Police Department arrived at the scene, they found the young man grievously wounded. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
