Gerald "Buster" Bates, a 49-year-old firefighter from Jackson, Mississippi, tragically lost his life on April 7, 2024. Bates, who served both the Jackson Fire Department and the Byram Fire Department, was found deceased in his home on Ferguson Drive after colleagues conducted a welfare check when he failed to report for work.
