On January 11, 2023, 31-year-old Steven Nichols was fatally shot at an Exxon gas station on Interstate 55 North in Jackson, Mississippi. Nichols and another individual were seated in a white pickup truck when multiple assailants opened fire, striking both occupants multiple times. Both victims were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with life-threatening injuries; Nichols succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
