Lt. Troy Morris, a 58-year-old veteran of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, was tragically killed on August 7, 2020, while working his second job as a contract mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Morris was found dead inside his delivery truck on U.S. 61 in Jefferson County, near the Adams County line, around 4:30 a.m. He had been shot to death while apparently changing a flat tire on his truck. Morris, who had served 27 years with the Highway Patrol, was only a year away from retirement.
