Jeffery Downs, Jr., an 18-year-old from Jackson, Mississippi, was found dead on March 31, 2021, at Battlefield Park in Jackson. His body was discovered around 11 a.m. near the 600 block of W. Porter Street, close to playground equipment. According to the Hinds County coroner, Downs had multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
