In the autumn of 2021, the life of Walter Lee Morris, a 23-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in his hometown of Clarksdale, Mississippi. On October 11, just a few days before he would have turned 24, Morris succumbed to fatal injuries from gun violence. He was transported to Delta Health Northwest Regional Hospital in Clarksdale, where he was pronounced dead.
