In the small city of Kosciusko, Mississippi, the life of 21-year-old Kenwon Tyshon Riley, a Black/African American male, was cut short on the night of April 29, 2022. Riley, known for his vibrant personality and a love for sports that had seen him play both baseball and football at Kosciusko High School, was fatally shot at Northside Park. The incident occurred around 11:51 p.m., and when Kosciusko police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Riley deceased from a single gunshot wound.
