A bright afternoon in Jackson, Mississippi took a violent turn on June 28, 2022, ending the life of 20-year-old Jonathan Milsap. While walking down Lakewood Drive just before 4 p.m., Milsap was fatally wounded in a brazen drive-by shooting. Witnesses reported hearing a dozen shots fired from a red Audi, which quickly fled the scene. When police arrived, they found Milsap lying in the street, having been struck by multiple gunshots.
The Jackson Police Department promptly began an
investigation, releasing images to the public of a man they wished to question, as well as the vehicle believed to be involved in the crime. The appeal for information from the community was a crucial step in the early stages of the investigation, as law enforcement worked to piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting.
Within a week of the incident, the investigation led to the identification of two suspects. One of the men, Miguel Forbes, was arrested in connection with the killing. Shortly thereafter, the second suspect, Sarcas Young, turned himself in to the authorities. Both men were subsequently charged with murder and drive-by shooting for their alleged roles in the death of Jonathan Milsap.
