In the winter of 2020, the life of 44-year-old Bernard Williams was tragically cut short in Jackson, Mississippi. On February 25th, his body was discovered in a trash can situated behind a vacant house on McDowell Road. The cause of his death was determined to be from gunshot wounds. The grim discovery of Mr. Williams, a male victim, initiated a homicide investigation.
The subsequent police work led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with the murder.
The individual taken into custody was identified as David Course. Prosecutors built a case against him, alleging that he was responsible for the fatal shooting of Williams and the subsequent disposal of his body in the refuse container. The motive for the killing was not immediately made public as the case proceeded through the legal system.
After being charged with first-degree murder, David Course's case went to trial. The evidence presented by the prosecution was compelling enough to convince a jury of his guilt. In June 2022, Course was found guilty of the murder of Bernard Williams. Following the verdict, a sentencing hearing was scheduled for June 20th of the same year to determine the penalty for his conviction in the death of Bernard Williams.
