In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Moss Point, Mississippi, the life of 37-year-old Kevin Larae Hardiman was tragically cut short. On September 4, 2022, officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Molden Street around 11:15 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Hardiman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A native of Pascagoula, Kevin was born on June 17, 1985.
He was known by those close to him as a loving man who cherished his family, especially his two nephews who held a special place in his heart. He was an entrepreneur and an avid fan of both football and basketball. His sudden death left a void in the lives of his parents, siblings, and a wide circle of family and friends who remembered him as a hardworking and kind individual.
The investigation into Hardiman's death quickly pointed to a primary suspect. David Brennen Mitchell, a 36-year-old man also from Pascagoula, was identified by detectives. In a turn of events, Mitchell voluntarily surrendered to the Moss Point Police Department during the ongoing investigation.
Following his surrender, David Brennen Mitchell was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Kevin Hardiman. He was taken into custody and held on a $250,000 bond. The case was then set to move through the judicial system.
