In the late afternoon of December 30, 2025, the life of 33-year-old Reginald Scott Thomas Jr. was cut short in a shooting at the Quality Inn hotel on Highway 63 in Moss Point, Mississippi. Authorities were alerted to the incident between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. by a woman who was present in the room at the time of the shooting.
Upon their arrival, Moss Point police discovered Thomas deceased inside the hotel room.
The Jackson County Coroner later confirmed that Thomas had died from a gunshot wound. While the investigation into his death is active and ongoing, law enforcement officials have characterized the shooting as an isolated incident and have stated that they do not believe there is a threat to the public.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and police have not publicly identified any suspects. He had achieved his certification as a welding inspector, a goal he had worked diligently to attain.
