In the quiet community of West Point, Mississippi, the life of 85-year-old Kenneth O’Brian was brought to a tragic and violent end in November 2022. A white male, Mr. O'Brian was found deceased from gunshot wounds on Joe Meyers Road in Clay County, a discovery that would soon unravel a story of betrayal and a desperate attempt to flee from justice. The man suspected of ending Mr.
O'Brian's life was not a stranger, but his 39-year-old tenant, Larry Eugene Findley.
In the days following the discovery of Mr. O'Brian's body, law enforcement officials in Clay County quickly identified Findley as a person of interest in the homicide. A manhunt was initiated, and authorities believed that Findley, also known as 'Buck,' may have fled to Alabama. Their suspicions proved correct, as a dramatic multi-county car chase unfolded in West Alabama, ultimately leading to Findley's capture. The pursuit, which involved deputies from both Pickens and Tuscaloosa Counties, came to a crashing halt when Findley wrecked his vehicle. The chase was not without collateral damage, as three police cars were wrecked and a deputy was sent to the hospital.
Following his arrest in Alabama, Larry Findley was held in custody while awaiting legal proceedings. After serving some prison time in Alabama, he was extradited back to Mississippi to face accusations for the death of his elderly landlord. In late January 2025, Findley was booked into the Clay County jail. His booking information indicates that he is being held on a 'CIRCUIT COURT CAPIAS,' signifying that he is now facing charges in the Clay County Circuit Court.
